DITKOMANIA is a fanzine devoted to the work of comics creator Steve Ditko.
It was founded in January 1983 by Bill Hall, who published it until October 1999.
With Bill's permission, Rob Imes revived the zine with #64 (continuing the old numbering) in March 2008.
DM (as the mag is known for short) was originally a UFO memberzine
from 1985 to 1989, and rejoined from 2009 to the present.
You can find ordering and subscription information above.
Below you can download back issues of DITKOMANIA in PDF format for free!
DITKOMANIA #43 (Summer 1994)
This issue contains an excerpt of a chapter about Ditko from
a forthcoming book by Mike Benton, and a review of Tales to
Astonish #7 (Jan. 1960) by Christoph Melchert.
DITKOMANIA #45 (May 1995)
This issue contains an article about Ditko's studio partner Eric Stanton, written by French Ditko fan Tristan Lapoussière. Also,
Rob Imes (who drew the front cover) writes about "Ditko & Radio."
DITKOMANIA #46-49 (March-June 1997)
The fanzine returned after almost a two years' absence in a newsletter format, being a double-sided sheet of paper. This PDF contains the first 4 issues of the newsletter, which includes a review by Rob Imes of Strange Avenging Tales #1.
DITKOMANIA #50 (July 1997)
This 8-page issue -- one of only two digest booklets to be released in the zine's newsletter phase (which lasted from #46-57) -- reprints Christoph Melchert's two articles from DITKOMANIA #1 & 2 (from January and March 1983).
DITKOMANIA #90 (March 2013)
ACE Comics publisher Ron Frantz remembers working with Steve Ditko (and almost getting to work with Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel) in the 1980s. This PDF version contains extras that aren't available in the print edition.
DITKOMANIA #91 (June 2013)
This issue focuses on Ditko's SPEEDBALL, with a long article by Rob Imes on the character's history. There's also a long letters section with readers (including Cerebus creator Dave Sim) responding to the previous issue's Ron Frantz-penned article, with responses to the letters from Ron himself! This PDF version contains extras that aren't available in the print edition.
DITKOMANIA #93 (May 2014)
This issue focuses on Ditko's monsters GORGO and KONGA, with a long article by Robby Reed about the latter. There's also a long letters section with readers responding to the previous issue (#92). This PDF version contains extras that aren't available in the print edition.
ROBIN SNYDER COMIC BOOK LIST (1978-1997) (1997)
This is not an issue of Ditkomania (nor a UFO memberzine), but rather a
long out-of-print one-shot digest-size zine published by Gary Usher in 1997, featuring a checklist of the work of Steve Ditko's longtime publisher/editor Robin Snyder. The zine was plugged in DITKOMANIA #49 (June 1997) and is a valuable resource for Snyder-Ditko collectors. It appears here in PDF format with the permission of Gary Usher.
Please note: The zines available as PDFs on this page were scanned and uploaded to this site by Rob Imes.
Permission to reprint the Bill Hall-published issues (1983-1999) was granted to Rob Imes by Bill Hall in 2008.
The issues published by Rob Imes (2008-on) appear here with the permission of Rob Imes.
Use of these PDFs for any other purpose (including reproduction in digital or print format) is not permitted,
unless authorized by Bill Hall (for the issues published from 1983 to 1999)
or Rob Imes (for the issues published from 2008 to present).
